Vlaardingen Project

Virtual Move of a Bridge to its Future Position

The Procedure

Step 1

• 3D Laser Scanning of the small Bridge to be moved (Area 1 = bridge next to Weegbrug B-02)

• Production of a very accurate (up to 2mm accuracy) clear Point Cloud

• 3D Modeling of the Bridge

Step 2

• 3D Laser Scanning of the area, where the small Bridge is going to be installed (Area 2 = Weegbrug E-01)

• Production of a very accurate clear Point Cloud

• 3D Modeling of the area

Step 3

• Deliver to the client: export files of the Bridge model and of the area where it is going to be installed

• The client tests various positions on the model and decides where the small bridge is going to be installed and moves it accurately using AUTOCAD or other 3D software

The deliverables for the project are:

• Accurate point clouds for Area 1 and Area 2

• As built accurate three-dimensional model of the “bridge” (steelworks, columns, ladder, railing, stairs)

Additional Deliverables

Step 4

• Production of the Virtual Tour with the model in the future position

Virtual Tour linked with a Data Base

A Virtual Tour with active connection points and the ability to measure accurately, anywhere in the Virtual Tour.
Type of deliverable: On line or Off line

Virtual Tour linked with a Data Base

A Virtual Tour with active connection points (in the model to be installed, in video or drawings, photographs, etc.) and the ability to measure accurately, anywhere in the Virtual Tour.
Type of deliverable: On line or Off line

An Interactive Virtual Tour for the “Laadplatform”

Production of three-dimensional models and projection of photographic imagery on the 3D models.

Remote users will feel like they are there, making their job easier with and reducing need for travel time and expenses.

Type of deliverable: On line

Virtual Reality application with VR glasses for the
“Laadplatform”

Production of stereoscopic interactive VR tour. Users wear the VR glasses and they find themselves virtually in the “Laadplatform”. They can “virtually walk” in the image, by spotting the blue dots in the area. After the end of the virtual tour experience, the user feels like they have been in the installation and they know how to navigate themselves in it.

Type of deliverable: On line

Delivery date: 2 June 2016
